Jane Eyre, written by Charlotte Bronte, is one of the most famous victorian novels. The story of the orphan Jane provides a rich insight into one aspect of the situation of women in England of that time-the trials and tribulations in the life of a working-class woman trying to find happiness in pre-industrial revolution England. The story deals with the many facets of life like love, morality, search for self, sacrifice and happiness, etc.
About the Author
Charlotte Bronte (1816 – 1854) and her sisters had a childhood marked by insecurity and poverty. It was perhaps the miseries of their real world, which led the Bronte siblings to create an imaginary world in their writings. Jane Eyre was Charlottes most famous work. She also wrote many poems.
